Oculus requires users to enable a setting that allows applications that have not been purchased and downloaded through the Oculus Store to run on the Rift. To enable that setting:
- 1.Open the Oculus desktop application.
- 2.Select on the Settings category on the left
- 3.Select the General tab at the top
- 4.Select the button to allow Unknown Sources.
You should now be able to use Ovation.
Yes, but only certain cables will work properly, namely "active" cables. Active cables attempt to strengthen the signal as it travels from the computer to the peripheral, supporting a solid connection at longer distances.
USB hubs and long extension cables will likely cause problems and should be avoided if possible.
We recommend you keep Windows, your graphics card drivers, and your VR platform (SteamVR, Oculus, Windows Mixed Reality) as up-to-date as possible. If not, you could experience stuttering, unexpected behavior, and crashes.
Update Windows: Select Start -> type "update" -> select Check For Updates.
VR Platform: SteamVR, Oculus, and Windows Mixed Reality will prompt you to update if you do not currently have the latest version.
