# Activation

An account must be activated before it can access the major features in the software or on the [Ovation web portal](https://app.prod.ovationvr.com/signin). The activation process consists of selecting an [Activation Type](/ovation/creating-an-account/account-activation/activation-types.md) and [initiating a trial](/ovation/creating-an-account/account-activation/billing.md), [purchasing a subscription](/ovation/creating-an-account/account-activation/billing.md), or joining an existing Organization.
